YANA'S POV

Ryan leaves for his late shift at 7:40.

I know because I watch the clock like it’s counting down to something inevitable. The second the front door closes and his car pulls away, the house feels different—charged, too quiet, full of the promise Cole made last night. I stay in my room for twenty minutes trying to talk myself out of it. My body doesn’t listen. I’m already wet just from the waiting, the crotch of my shorts clinging to me.

At 8:01 I cross the hall and open his door without knocking.
