Beta Thomas knew he was going to make one of the most important decisions of his life in this moment. He already knew by some instinct that Alpha Kane was dead. The mystery of the sudden pain during his sleep was now explained.

"Did you kill him?" He finally brought himself to speak. He wasn't particularly mourning the man. Their relationship was a strange one. They could have become fonded, but the Alpha never allowed him to cross that distance. Eventually, he stopped trying to breach that barrier.
