I watched Noah and Elias ride away until I couldn't see them anymore. Then I went back inside the pack house and sat down in the kitchen.
The house felt too quiet without Noah there. I was used to hearing his voice and his footsteps all the time. Now there was just silence.
I made myself some tea and tried to read a book, but I couldn't focus on the words. My mind kept thinking about the worried look on Noah's face when he woke up from his dream.
He said it was just a nightmare, but it seemed like more than that. He looked scared. Really, truly...
