When we reached the pack house, the Alpha was waiting for us. He had heard about the commotion in the forest, and he wanted to know what had happened.

The guards quickly explained everything they had witnessed. They told the Alpha about Melissa's confession, about her use of dark magic, and about how my baby's power had protected us.

The Alpha listened carefully to their report. Then he looked at me with a very different expression than he had worn before.

"Daisy," he said slowly, "it appears that I owe you an apology. We have been blaming you for crimes that you did not commit."
