"I know I'm right," Lucien said. "And once you meet Klaudius, you'll understand. He's not the monster everyone says he is. He's just a man who wants to protect his family."

"His family?" I said.

"You're his daughter, Daisy," Lucien said. "You're the most important person in his life. He's been searching for you for long."

"To use me in his war," I said.

"To save you," Lucien said. "From people like Noah who would use you and then throw you away."
