I laid awake, reading one of the fantasy books I borrowed from the library some days ago. I sleepily rubbed my eyes then sat upright, determined to finish the first half of the novel.

Then, almost instantaneously, something caught my peripheral vision. A shadow in the room. I looked head on at the place why my peripheral vision caught the shadow. An empty wall stared back at me.

My fingers gripped the novel I was reading a little too tightly, I carefully scanned the room. The doors were bolted, my windows closed. I try to pretend I was simply hallucinating and there's actually nothing wrong.
