Five am in the morning and I still stared blankly at the ceiling above me. I didn't get a wink of sleep throughout the night. I couldn't bring myself to. My thoughts were ridiculously occupied due to the way he unexpectedly barged in to ask if I had any unusual visitors the previous day. I was hella sure Phoenix mentioned nothing to him. Then how did he find out?

After I rejected his offer yesterday and watched him leave the room, I had told one of the guards to send for Phoenix but they had reported back that she left the manor already. Apparently, she worked here on shifts...
