Rafael pulled his hand away slowly, wiped his fingers on his thigh, and stepped back half a pace.
“Yeah.” My voice came out quieter than I wanted. I tugged my shirt down and slid off the desk on
unsteady legs. “I’ve been here too long, Rafael. You're... everything, but this was never supposed to be permanent. My dad’s asking and the house is empty. I need to go see if there’s anything left to fix with him.”
