I didn’t move. The restless heat under my skin flared hotter at the sound of his voice, but the days of silence sat right behind it.
“You’ve been ignoring my texts for days,” I said. “I get one short message and now you suddenly need me on the phone with my clothes off?”
"I know," he exhaled through the speaker. "I’m sorry. Meetings stacked on top of each other, supply calls, two Alphas who wouldn’t leave my office. I read every message. I just couldn’t answer without someone overhearing or walking in.”
