I stood in front of my mirror, smoothing down the black dress with the silver sparkles.
It caught the light just right, like moonlight on water, exactly what I wanted. Not too fancy, but enough to turn heads. The full moon gathering was always a big deal, but this year felt bigger. Three packs showing up? Yeah, I was ready to mingle. I’d been single way too long, and tonight I wasn’t settling for boring.
I grabbed my heels and headed down the hall to Iris’s room. She’d been quiet all day, buried in those textbooks again.
“Hey, you ready yet?" knocked twice, quick raps. "We gotta leave...
