Vivian was speechless over the phone, like lightning had just hit her. After a time, she let out a high-pitched scream. "Are you with Leon now?"

"Yes." 

Leon grabbed the phone off Remi’s hand, and his face looked as dark as a thundercloud. He turned off the speakers, put the phone to his ear, and went away to talk to Vivian in private. 

Remi didn't let it get to her. Leon and his mother were having a problem; it had nothing to do with her.

 "Mom, did you forget what I told you last time?" 

Vivian felt a little guilty, but then she changed the subject. “I didn't even bring...
