READER'S POV

Daniel had just returned from the conference he attended that morning and so he decided to drop by his office. As if on a cue, Maurice pulled up beside his car and then climbed out too.

“Hey, you're just coming?” He asked

“Yeah. What about you?” Daniel asked, looking him over. Pushing his hands into his pocket, he began to head towards the building with Maurice trailing beside him.

“I had to drop Rose off at her friend's home.” Maurice replied, not knowing the effect his response was going to have on Daniel.

Tightening his jaw, Daniel kept a straight face, though he was boiling on the inside....
