After a winding run up a mountainside just outside their town, Dan pulled the car off the road and onto a long, gravel driveway that led to an abandoned farmhouse. It looked like it had been a big, fancy house a long time ago. Fortunately there was a full moon so it wasn't too dark and creepy, but Mikki had never seen this place before and she was a little surprised when her dad turned off the engine and undid his seatbelt. She undid hers too. For a while they sat quietly and Dan let her take a look at the house and the sparsely wooded fields around it.
