The fire crackled quietly in the center of the camp, casting flickering shadows across everyone’s tired, dirt-smeared faces. The twins were curled up together in a tangle of blankets, snoring softly like they hadn’t just channeled some ancient prophecy horror twenty-four hours ago.
I wanted to go home. All of us wanted to go home but there was nothing else we could do but wait.
