Caroline is stiff and nervous; she frequently paces the modest cabin she has been assigned. She could not acknowledge it to herself, but what had occurred to her with Amelia earlier that evening saddened her very deeply. The elder woman’s anger boiled with such audacity of the hybrid; she had dared to pursue Caroline and practically offer a threat.

Caroline emitted a low growl of anger, standing with her hands by her sides ‘damn that girl’. “Who does she think she is?”
