Elijah sat on an armchair, uncomfortable, as Rosa and Kevin sat on the couch in the cramped living room. In the corner of the room was a grandfather clock, its ticking sounding out Elijah's pulse.

Kevin began to speak to Elijah in a casual yet protective tone, asking, "So, what's the relation between you and Rosa?" Somehow, Elijah could tell that Rosa was desperate just by looking at her.
