We both walked into the small kitchen and saw his mother pick up a small vase of pink roses and put it on the table before walking over to the table with the food. I walked over to one of the chairs and sat down, and then Cole sat down next to me.

"Rayline, would you like something to drink?" his mom asked as she stood by the refrigerator.

"Just water will be fine, thanks," I replied and she nodded and eagerly got a glass of water for me.

"Don't push yourself too hard, Mom," Cole added, and his mother just laughed.

"Well, we never have guests, do we?...
