“Hey, you did come!”

I heard the voice from yesterday again in the darkness, it sounded surprised, as if she had expected me not to show up. I just arrived seconds ago, so she must have been waiting for me already.

“Of course, I am a man of words,” I replied. "Were you under the impression otherwise?"

She chuckled, the relief in her voice clearly audible.
