I entered the house through the back door, walking as stealthily as possible, and secretly praying I wouldn't get caught.

I made my way towards the staircase when I heard the voice. "Scarlet!" His voice was cold. I guess luck was not on my sides. I froze, but refused to turn to look at him.

I heard his footsteps as he approached in fast strides, my heart thumping hard in my chest with each step he took. He placed a hand on my shoulders and turned me slowly to face him.
