Pete being in his thoughts, Jack's gaze became unforgiving. He drove straight to her apartment.

"Jack, why did you come? Have you eaten breakfast?" Pete's face lit up with a beam of happiness as she stepped aside swiftly to let him in.

Jack came in the lounge with an empty expression and fell onto the sofa, his cold eyes fixed intently on Pete's face.

Pete grew restless with a look from him, her beam of happiness disappearing. "Jack, what's wrong with you? Why are you looking at me like that? It is getting me on edge."
