"Well, if you're under stress, come over for dinner tonight. Mason and I miss you," I invited.
"From now on, break up that last sentence into two," advised Pete Toby.
I paused, then raised an eyebrow. "Okay, I miss you, and Mason misses you too."
There was silence on the line for a few seconds before Pete Toby's deep voice came back, "Okay, I'll be there at 6:30 p.m."
As soon as I hung up, my grin slowly disappeared. If it wasn't Pete Toby who had delivered the flowers, then who could it be? Or were the flowers delivered to the wrong place?
