"You should really learn to keep your finger off the trigger when you’re shaking that hard, Leo. It’s embarrassing for the family name, don't you think?"

The voice didn't come from Sofia. It didn't come from the doorway where Leo stood with his weapon pressed to her temple. It came from the shadows of the gallery above them, a calm, mocking drawl that sliced through the suffocating tension of the library.

Leo froze, his eyes darting upward, the barrel of the gun wavering just enough for Sofia to pull back an inch. "Who’s there? Show yourself!"
