(George’s Car)
George’s hands were firm on the steering wheel, his eyes glued to the road. The city lights blurred past them, red and white streaks slicing through the darkness.
Orion sat beside him, rigid, his jaw clenched. His knee bounced uncontrollably, his fingers digging into his thigh. In the backseat, Yulia sat quietly, her hands folded together, while Gael had one arm wrapped protectively around her shoulders.
“We have to get there as soon as possible,” Orion said, his voice filled with fear he was no longer trying to hide.
“Nothing should happen to Rosy. Nothing at all.” he said.
George nodded without taking his eyes off the road....
