I don’t remember deciding to leave the room.
I just knew that staying there…staring at the door she’d closed behind her…was going to break me in half.
My chest felt like it was caving in, every breath sharp, shallow. The bond hummed beneath my skin, frantic and angry, tugging me in her direction like a living thing. She was out there. Walking. In her heat. Hurt. Angry.
Because of me.
I forced my feet to move.
