Him (in a very loud voice): He's not my child!
My whole family is amazed, shocked by the words of the one I loved so much.
Me: Liam, I hope you're kidding! (I say in a shaky voice)
Him: Please go find the father of your child and stop putting me in a bad position in front of my family!
Me: Liam? Why do you inflict this shame on me?
Him: You should be ashamed of attributing a bastard to a young man (looking at me with contempt).
His mother: Alexandria, I want to believe you because we have known you since. But you see, I cannot doubt my son's word!
Him: Mum, dad, tell him to go get his bastard's father somewhere else.
I watch him, trying to figure out what's going on. I look in his eyes for the love he had for me before, I look for a sign and I see nothing.
I hear a whisper from Clara her cousin "In your face, dirty traitress". It doesn't hurt me more than that, because she doesn't like me from the start.
I look at his family, I look at my father who is sad and feels humiliated. So I resign myself and say:
Me: Liam, God be my witness, I have never cheated on you, you are the first man I have known. We are young and surely you do not realize the scope of your act, I am disappointed! Disappointed that you reject me, disappointed that you humiliate me in front of ours, outraged by your words. But you know, I don't have such a bad heart as some of the people sitting here, that's why I'm just going to walk away, without shouting, without name-calling. Just walk away with my "bastard" as you call it and I promise you'll regret every word you say when that child bears your family's birthmark.
Dad, I wish we would go away please, he humiliated me enough.
