Ever since Arabella Laurel lost her mother five months ago, she has lived with her abusive aunt. One day in her junior year of high school, she gets into an argument with Theo Benedict who accidentally spits chewing gum in her hair. She has never gotten along with him, so they always bicker whenever they cross paths. That's why after cutting her hair short in despair, she plans revenge on Theo by interchanging the school bathroom signs, but the plan backfires on her when she enters the boys' bathroom herself while he barges in the girls' bathroom. After that, when she returns home, she finds out that her aunt has kicked her out. With nowhere to go and no money, Ara goes to the park to spend the night where she meets a famous artist, Ian Reeves, who was her mom's friend. Ian offers her a place to stay and promises to bear all her costs until she stands on her own feet. Ara hesitantly accepts his kindness and goes to the apartment. There, she finds out that one of her roommates is Theo, who is Ian's nephew. She makes a grand entrance by stepping on Theo's cat and gets into another banter which results in Theo telling her to leave immediately. Not wanting to get more humiliated, she leaves, but Theo brings her back since he feels guilty for kicking a girl out on the street. Therefore, it's decided that she'll live with him and her other roommate, Wyatt Reeves. From day one, Arabella and Theo keep pranking each other, always getting into arguments, but even amidst that, a deep bond starts to stir. Ara finds out that Wyatt has a crush on her closest friend, Coral Hawkins, so to bring the two of them together, Ara and Theo work together, starting to get to know each other in that process. Through all the festivities of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and spending so much time together at home, they start liking each other.
